Welcome To Digital Preservation Tips!

Why Does This Page Exist?

As I continue to make this site, I realize that what I'm essentially doing is preserving not just a personal webstie for myself, but I've also grown an interest in digital preservation.

Digital Preservation is the art of the preservation of digital content over time. Related to this is digitisation, which is when you createdigital content from non-digital mediums, such as paper or analogue sound recordings.

Digital preservation is important for the future. Everything you see online could easily be changed or go away, and as technology advances, it's increasingly harder to preserve the files we made, the websites and blogs created, digital files like video games, movies, and TV online, etc.

Also, the older things you love, as they get older, will be increasingly out of print, could be removed from their online stores, etc. in the future. Ideally being able to physically preserve these things in some form would be great, but not everyone has the space in their living spaces to store an entire library. So, I propose saving everything on your personal USBs, SSDs (solid state drives), and so on digitally.
